The country’s gadget lovers are racing to own a tablet computer that resembles a slate board. Today tab receives more positive reviews in the industry when compared to the desktop and laptop. According to figures by the Manufacturers Association for Information Technology (MAIT) in the 2011-12 financial year, 19 lakhs of tabs were sold in the country. However the previous year’s sales was 3.6 lakhs. This is a 400 percent growth. If 19 lakhs tablets were sold in 2011-12, it is expected to reach half a crore the coming financial year.
Apple’s iPad is most probably in the first position when it comes to sales in the country. Though it costs about INR 40,000, users vouch that the comfort the iPad provides is not available with other tabs. In second place is the Samsung Galaxy Tab and its price ranges from INR 10,000 to 30,000. Also available to select is countless Indian companies that launch tablets in different names. Majority of them cost between INR 5,000 to 10,000. Hewlett Packard (HP)now offers a new opportunity to select along with iPad and Galaxy Tab. The two latest models of tablets that the company has launched is now available in the Indian market – Slate6 VoiceTab and Slate7 VoiceTab.
HP Slate6 VoiceTab :
As the name suggests, this is a tablet computer with calling facility. The device is a 6-inch tab with IPS LCD display of 720 X 1280 pixels resolution. It has a 1.2 GhZ Quadcore processor and 1 GB RAM. The tab that operates on Android 4.2.2 Jellybean version has 16 GB inbuilt memory. It also has a 5-megapixel camera, 2-megapixel camera with HD video recording for video calling. The Slate6 is a dual-SIM tab with facility to use both a normal SIM as well as a micro SIM card. Connectivity options also include 3G. The Slate6 gets its power from a 3000 mAh battery that provides 10 hours talk time and seven hours of video viewing. The price is INR 22,990.
HP Slate7 VoiceTab :
There is no major difference between the Slate6 and Slate7 with regard to hardware specifications, connectivity or camera quality. The Slate7 has a 1.2 GhZ Quadcore processor, 1 GB RAM and Android 4.2.2 Jellybean operating system just like the Slate6. However the tabs slightly differ in screen size. The Slate7 is a 7-inch tab with IPS display of 1280 X 800 pixels resolution. It is powered by a 4100 mAh battery.
